Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Lead (Arbor Specialist) to provide specialist support with the preparation and submission of the School Census. The successful candidate will have strong experience working within a school environment and be confident using a Management Information System (preferably Arbor) to maintain accurate data and ensure census compliance.

This is an urgent requirement, and the successful candidate will be able to work independently and effectively manage census-related activities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the preparation, validation, and submission of the statutory School Census.
• Ensure pupil, staff, attendance, and curriculum data is accurate and compliant with DfE requirements.
• Identify and resolve data anomalies and errors before census submission.
• Produce reports and data extracts to support census returns and school leadership requirements.
• Assist with the maintenance and integrity of the school’s Management Information System.
• Support data audits and ensure compliance with school data management procedures.
• Liaise with school staff to obtain and verify information required for census returns.
• Provide guidance on best practice relating to school data and census processes.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a School Data Officer or within a similar school data administration role.
• Proven experience preparing and submitting School Census returns.
• Strong working knowledge of Arbor or a similar school MIS.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements within an educational setting.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Requirements

• Experience supporting assessment, attendance, and pupil data management.
• Knowledge of DfE census requirements and school funding implications.
• Experience producing reports and analysing school data.

Hours: Up to 37 hours per week, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Contract: Temporary, duration to be confirmed.
Location: On-site, with hybrid working considered for the right candidate.
