School Caretaker / Site Manager

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (Ongoing sickness cover)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:45am–10:00am and 3:00pm–6:45pm (split shift)

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on School Caretaker to join a busy school in Erdington. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong maintenance skills who takes pride in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring the premises are well maintained, compliant with health and safety regulations, and fully operational at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school premises each day.
• Oversee the security, maintenance, and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks.
• Ensure the school site remains safe, clean, tidy, and presentable.
• Conduct regular health and safety checks, reporting and addressing any issues where appropriate.
• Assist with setting up classrooms, halls, and other facilities for school events and activities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise disruption to the school day.
• Liaise with contractors and school staff when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, facilities, or maintenance role.
• Good practical skills with the ability to carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• A sound understanding of health and safety procedures and regulations.
• The ability to work independently and prioritise your workload effectively.
• A reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A current Enhanced DBS
• Availability to start immediately.
