School Safeguarding Officer – East Ham

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (Ongoing Cover)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm
Salary: Negotiable

We are seeking an experienced School Safeguarding Officer to join a secondary school in East Ham on an ongoing temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to safeguarding concerns and disclosures, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records and student files.
• Liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), parents, social services and external agencies.
• Monitor student welfare, attendance and signs of abuse, neglect or vulnerability.
• Support referrals and follow up on safeguarding cases in line with school policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as a Safeguarding Officer within a school, preferably secondary.
• Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Available to start ASAP.
