HOW TO KICK THOSE WINTER BLUES!

With the clocks going back this weekend and the long winter nights rolling in many of us can experience the winter blues.  Here are some tips to survive the British winter!

GET OUTSIDE

When it’s cold, wet and windy outside the last thing you may want to do is go for a walk but spending just a  little time outside is proven to work wonders at relieving  stress and lifting your spirits. Bundle up warm and brace the day!

LET IN THE LIGHT

Try and get as much exposure to natural sunlight light as possible. As well as taking walks more often, maybe try spending time in the garden or local park. If you spend a lot of time indoors, open up any blinds and curtains as wide as possible try and sit near a window whenever you can.

EXERCISE

Exercise is probably one of the most effective ways to release those feel-good endorphins that are so important to boost your mood. So, try and incorporate regular exercise to help shake away those winter blues. It doesn’t have to be a hardcore workout routine or punishing 10-mile run…. turn up the music, play your favourite tune and dance like nobody’s watching!

HIT THE PAUSE BUTTON

As the year draws to a close try and savour a little time for inward reflection.  Perhaps set a few new intentions for the months ahead, it could something as simple as “I intend to make someone smile every day.”
