Our client is seeking an experienced SEN Department Manager to provide short-term leadership within a busy SEND department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Teaching Assistants, supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including some with complex behavioural needs, and acting as a key point of contact for parents and carers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the SEN support team and Teaching Assistants.
• Support students with SEND, including those with high needs and behavioural challenges.
• Handle parental enquiries and concerns effectively and professionally.
• Work closely with senior leaders and teaching staff to ensure appropriate support is in place.
• Oversee day-to-day operations within the SEN department.

Requirements:

• Significant experience working within SEND provision.
• Previous leadership or management experience.
• Strong communication and people-management skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
• SENCO qualification or previous SENCO experience is desirable.

This role would suit an experienced SEND professional or qualified SENCO who can hit the ground running and provide immediate support during a transitional period. Immediate availability is essential.
